The Secret Poetess of Terezin

Lenka Lichtenberg / Senisdream Productions

'How can people on the brink of death experience happiness, write love poems…?' In 2017, Lenka discovered two notebooks of poems written by her grandmother, then a prisoner in a WWII concentration camp in Czechoslovakia. The Canadian musician transformed her grandmother’s words into Thieves of Dreams, an ’incredibly touching, moving way to honour history’ (Q on CBC.ca), Canada's 2023 Juno Award-winning album and an internationally touring multimedia stage show. The immersive, intimate performance wins over audiences with its intensely personal yet universal narrative of love evolving and dissolving under the pressure of monumental historical events.
