Storytelling, Spoken Word

An Tinne

Anne Martin

Anne is from the Isle of Skye and has sung all her life. In 2024 she was inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame, recognising her status in Gaelic song and performance. An Tinne, is the true story of the Macpherson family "cleared" in 1875 to Australia. It was inspired by the slabhraidh, a cooking pot chain carried with them and still cared for by their descendants. Through song and spoken word, the performance links past, present, Scottish Gael, immigrant and indigenous Australians while evoking a current relevance with pathos and beauty.
